Holocaust in Uganda.
In the Republic of Uganda there exists a great hatred of homosexuals. If you take a walk down any street in Kampala and ask the people you meet what they think of homosexuality they will, almost everyone, tell you that it is an abomination, hated by God, and something every good person ought to be totally revolted against. This is the opinion of a very large portion of the population of sub-Saharan Africa. Here it is driven by a very fundamentalist approach to biblical interpretation in the Christian community, allied with a similar attitude in a large section of the Muslim population. If you are homosexual in almost every country in Africa, you are likely to be living in fear because in this part of the world to be homosexual is to be regarded as a lower form of life. This hatred of the homosexual is been driven by sections of the Evangelical Christian churches.
In every age there have been groups of people who have been singled out as the "hate figures" for that age. The exact identity of the persecutees has varied depending on the era, or the region or country that the vilification was taking place. In late imperial Rome the target for hatred and persecution was the early Christians. After the reign of Constantine it was the turn of the pagans to be persecuted. Then for a short period during the time of Julian the Apostate the Christians felt the rod again. During the middle ages the Muslims persecuted the Christians in the Middle East, and then, with the crusades, the "Followers of Christ" fought back and the Muslims, Jews, and Orthodox Christians were equally massacred. From the sixteenth until the middle of the seventeenth centuries in Europe Catholics and Protestants hated each other with a passion. The Catholics loathed the Protestants because they believed they were heretics, and the Protestants believed the Catholics were the Antichrist and killed them for that reason. Hundreds of thousands were killed during the Thirty Years War. It was not unusual for a Catholic soldier to be throwing a "Heretic Baby" into a fire while just a few miles down the road a Protestant soldier would be repaying the compliment with a "Spawn of the Antichrist.
During the twentieth century hatred of the Jewish race, which had always simmered beneath the surface of European society, burst forth in the obscenity that was Nazism. The result was the holocaust, and six million murders. And lest we think that "The children of Israel" are immune from the contagion of irrational hatred of their fellow man, let me just mention the word "Palestinian" and draw your attention to recently broadcast pictures of Jewish settlers in "The West Bank" throwing stones at Palestinian children as they try to go to school.
In China today we see persecution and oppression of national minorities like the Uighurs and the Tibetans. Persecution and hatred towards Christians persists still in certain Middle East countries, and also in India. In South Africa, Rhodesia, and in large parts of the United States of America persecution of black people was until quite recently sanctioned in law. Now we are faced with the rise of irrational hatred of white people from extremists in Zimbabwe and in South Africa, while black power preachers in the USA thunder forth with hatred of the "Whites".
You will have gathered from the foregoing that I don’t really have much regard for those who would foment hatred against any other group in society, especially since the rationale behind the vituperation is always so tenuous; but the reason why I am choosing to type this at the moment is not just to fulminate against lack of human understanding in the first place, but because I think I have identified the target of the next great persecution, and I suspect that the killing field will be Africa, and one of the driving forces behind the next great "Holocaust" is the Christian Evangelical Movement in the United States.
Christian evangelicals Promoting Persecution of Gays
In October 2009 a bill was presented to the parliament in Uganda calling for greatly increased penalties against those who engaged in homosexual practices. This bill, if enacted, would provide for life imprisonment for anyone engaging in male to male or female to female sexual congress. Repeat offenders would be subject to the death penalty. If someone knows the identity of a homosexual, and does not disclose it, that person will be liable to three years imprisonment. There is further provision in the law for those engaging in same sex activities abroad, to be subject to extradition warrants so they can face punishment at home.
The Member of Parliament who introduced the bill is a Dapper well educated, apparently sophisticated man called David Bahati. (Incidentally the Nazi Governor of Warsaw was the Dapper well educated, and undoubtedly sophisticated Reinhardt Heydrich). Never let appearances deceive you. Anyway this "Honourable" Mr Bahati is the Ugandan head of an evangelical organisation called The Family. This is an association set up in the United States to oppose such things as Gay Marriage, and it counts among its members a certain amount of right wing Christian fundamentalists and a sprinkling of the less liberal legislators in that great "Fountain of Liberty called The United States of America. A group of American Evangelists held a well-publicised conference in Uganda in January 2009. This had a distinctly anti-homosexual bias. It was shortly afterwards that the bill I just mentioned was drafted.
I could go on at great length about the dangers of his bill for the civil liberties of Gay people in Uganda, but I won’t. The really worrying thing about it is the prevailing attitude it reveals. Homosexuals in that country are being portrayed in the same colours as the Jews were in Hitler’s Germany, and they may be heading for the same fate as the unfortunate victims as that testicularicly challenged maniac. This law is been brought in by those who espouse The Prince Of Peace as their leader, and it is being pushed for by outside influences who purport to have the same loving Christian agenda. What I would like to say to these people is that their activities stink, that they stink, and that in Heaven Jesus says they stink also.
